B.R.A.V.E. People Programs and Services

  • A 8-12 week after school A Brave Course class for youth living in high-risk families and/or neighborhoods. This class will address self-esteem development and personal empowerment, developing health relationships, health maintenance, communication/interpersonal skills, verbal assertiveness, peer resistance skills, safety awareness, danger assessment and physical self-defense
  • A multi-faceted anti-violence curriculum including written, audio, video and multi-media materials
  • Relationship building/effective communication classes for families
  • Self-defense classes for men and women, mothers and daughters, and fathers and sons
  • Training for gay and lesbian people in self-defense, safety awareness, danger assessment, and verbal assertiveness
  • Training for staff and clients of other non-profit agencies in violence prevention
  • Meeting with businesses, schools and community groups about violence prevention
  • A resource library of books, videos, CD-ROMs and other reference and training materials
  • A national retreat center that will host a variety of activities, including summer camps for young adults
  • Establish a late-night center to give youth an alternative to street life, crime, gangs and violence.
